Fort Hays State University has announced an innovative guaranteed admission program aimed at streamlining the transition from community colleges to its bachelor’s degree programs in clinical and school psychology. In a formal ceremony, FHSU President Tisa Mason and Kansas Association of Community Colleges Director Heather Morgan, along with representatives from 19 community colleges across Kansas, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish this new pathway.
This program is designed to provide students with a clear route to higher education in the field of psychology, ensuring that those who complete a two-year associate’s degree at a participating community college will be guaranteed admission to FHSU’s bachelor’s degree programs. Furthermore, the commitment extends beyond the undergraduate level, allowing students to secure guaranteed acceptance into master’s degree programs in both clinical and school psychology, contingent upon maintaining specific grade point average standards.
This initiative not only enhances educational opportunities for students but also fosters collaboration between community colleges and the university, ultimately contributing to a stronger workforce in the field of psychology in Kansas.
