LA GRANDE, Ore. - Eastern Oregon University's chapter of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, has been recognized as a 2025-26 Model Chapter. The designation honors the group's dedication to academic achievement, student leadership, community service, research, and active involvement in the field of psychology.
The award places EOU among a select group of chapters worldwide that meet high standards for chapter operations and member engagement. To earn the title, the chapter had to demonstrate consistent activity, including hosting events, supporting student research, and contributing to the campus and local community.
Faculty advisors and student officers worked together to maintain a strong presence on campus, organizing guest lectures, study sessions, and outreach programs. The recognition reflects the hard work of both current and past members who have built a culture of collaboration and intellectual curiosity.
Psi Chi membership is open to students who meet academic requirements and show a commitment to the discipline. The honor society provides networking opportunities, access to research grants, and a platform for students to present their work at regional and national conferences.
The EOU chapter plans to continue its efforts in the coming year, with a focus on expanding mentorship programs and increasing participation in psychology-related service projects.
